We Believe

…in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writing and that they are of supreme and final authority in matters of faith and practice, the true center of Christian union. II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:19-21

…in one God eternally existing in three persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 7: 14, 9:6; Matthew 1:23, 28, 19:20: John 1:1

…that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and that He is true God, and true man, and is the only sufficient Mediator between God and man; and in the Vicarious death of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins, in the resurrection of His body, His ascension into Heaven, and His personal and visible future return to the earth; and that eternal salvation is received only through personal faith in Him - through receiving Christ as personal Savior. Luke 1:26-38, 24:39; I Timothy 2:3; John 3:16, 36, 14::3, 6; Acts 10:43; Revelation 1:7

…in the personality of the Holy Spirit; and that His ministry is to convict men of sin, to reveal Christ, to indwell, sanctify, instruct, and empower each believer for worship and service. Luke 11:13; John 14: 16,17, 15:26, 16:7-14; Acts 1:8

…in the literal Genesis account of creation. We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings since the fall are born with a sinful nature and, in the case of those who reach the age of moral responsibility, are sinners in thought, word and deed. Genesis 1:26,27; Romans 3:23, 5:12

…that the soul and spirit of the Christian leave the body at death and go immediately to be with the Lord. Luke 16: 19-31; Philippians 1:21-23; II Corinthians 5:8

…in the eternal security of the believer; that it is impossible for one born into the family on God ever to be lost. John 1:12, 10:27, 28; I john 5: 9-13; I Peter 1:3-5; Jude 1

…in the priesthood of all Believers. A believer is once and for all saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2: 5-10), and has free access to God the Father through the one and only High Priest, Jesus Christ our Savior at any time for spiritual comfort and forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:11-28). With this principle of individual competency under God in all matters of religion, Baptists have opposed any distinction between clergy and laity that would suggest that the clergy are a continuation of the Old testament priesthood. We believe that Christ has made every believer to become a priest under God.
