Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries and we would love for you to use your spiritual gifts here!

First Baptist is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. Awana is a global, nonprofit ministry committed to the belief that the greatest impact for Christ starts with kids who know, love and serve Him.  Awana strives to reach kids through fun, Scripture-rich experiences.  Our Awana program meets Wednesday nights from September – May and is for 3 year olds through the 6th grade.  We have a really great group of leaders and helpers who provide a fun, safe environment for your kids!  Come this Wednesday and drop off the kids at 6:30.  Pick up is at 8:00.

Youth Group

God has given our church an awesome group of young people who love each other and more importantly, love Him.  We encourage students in their walk with Jesus through our weekly youth group meetings, Sunday school sessions and other youth related activities.  Our youth group is geared toward students in the 7th through 12th grades.  During our times together we play games and get to know each other, spend time in large and small groups, discuss current events and issues relevant to life as a teenager.  We talk about what having faith is all about, pray for one another and participate in other FBCD ministries using the gifts God has given us.  Wherever you are spiritually, we invite you to come and meet some new friends, and have an amazing time doing it!

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in video and we provide audio CD’s for you to share with someone or to listen to the message again. We also maintain an active Facebook page for additional church communication.

The Men’s Ministry at FBCD serve to build up, encourage and grow men who’s hearts are committed to serving the Lord in all areas of their lives whether it is as a husband, employee or friend!  There are several opportunities for men to get involved including Thursday night Bible study at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday morning coffee at 10:00 a.m.  We try and have fellowship throughout the year, namely at the “Men’s Night Out” activities once a month held at the Halifax Country Club.

Ladies Ministry Opportunities

Our Women’s Ministry strives to bring women together to study God’s Word, develop friendships and encourage and care for one another!  We meet for Women’s breakfasts, weekly Bible studies, social nights out, minister to those in need and so much more!  There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in ladies ministry!

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated.  Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Sunday night at 7:00 we meet to pray for the ministries of the church, our Pastor and  church members, special prayer requests, missionaries and so much more.  Throughout the week we have email prayer chains that go out to our church body and requests are lifted up in prayervolunteers from our Prayer Warriors team pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study.
